Thiruvananthapuram: Following reports on its success among COVID-19 patients in China, Cuban drug Interferon Alpha 2B turned out to be a wonder drug.

Alongside, Cuban biotech specialist, Dr. Luis Herrera Martinez declared the drug was capable of fighting viruses.

Communist government in Kerala couldn’t wait to approach the Cuban authorities for the drug.

However, many health experts in the state question the drug’s touted efficacy in China.

Planning board member Dr. Ekbal holds that Cuban drug is not for prevention.

Of the two kinds of drugs: Interferon Alpha 2B, and Beta, Cuba has Alphas drugs.

WHO is experimenting four drugs against COVID-19 now.   As part of experiment, Cuban drug could also be used but only in critical patients.

Kerala has no critical COVID-19 patients.

In order to tackle any serious situation, Kerala wrote to Indian Medical Research Council for trial permission.

He also said that China controlled COVID-19 not by treating patients.

Cuba developed this drug in 1981 against dengue virus.  Cuban medical team brought the drug to 39 nations facing COVID-19 situation.
