Kozhikode:  The family of Jaspreet Singh, the Punjabi student who was found dead at his residence on Sunday, came down heavily on the management of Malabar Christian College.

Jaspreet Singh, pursuing graduation in Economics at the college, was depressed over having been disqualified from appearing for the final semester examination which began on Monday.

Despite request of his father Manmohan Singh, authorities were reluctant to allow him to write exams, family reportedly said.

Jaspreet who had 68 per cent attendance had to attend the funeral of a relative in his home town.

Meanwhile, trains from Delhi were cancelled following the Anti-CAA protests thus Jaspreet losing attendance for a week.

Authorities however refused to accept his explanation.

“He was seriously depressed when he learnt that he was going to lose one academic year, pushing him to take his own life. He was very good in studies and an active participant in co-curricular activities,” News18 quoted his sister Balvind Kaur as saying.

Jaspreet Singh had aspired to become an IPS officer.
