Frustrated flood victim commits suicide in Wayanad

Kozhikode: A 46-year-old man in Wayand committed suicide being upset over not getting compensation for flood victims.

M Sanal hailing from Nathamkuni near Meppadi  lost his house in the 2019 floods in the district.

He had since been living in a small plot with no possession records.

The house which had been partially damaged in the 2018 floods fell apart in the floods last year.

His brother-in-law said that he had not received even the emergency relief of Rs 10,000 announced to the flood victims.

He had been approaching panchayat and village office seeking help to rebuild the house.

Sanal is survived by wife Sajini, daughter Navya and son Navneeth.
