Thiruvananthapuram: Anxiety has gripped the people of Kerala after the government called upon the people to act with caution as the high potent mutated strain of Covid -19 was detected in six persons on Monday. The infected persons have travel history from UK after 14th December.

Two members of a family at Kozhikode, two members of a family at Alappuzha, a case each in Kottayam and Kannur districts were found to be infected with the new mutant UK strain of Coronavirus.

The affected persons are undergoing observation under the health department. Those who came in contact with the persons are also under observation. 29 samples have been sent to the serum laboratory in Pune for testing.

The minister cautioned the people and demanded more alertness as the intensity of the virus is comparatively higher. Those who have come in contact with the affected persons should report to the concerned. There is no situation for panic. Though there is a higher chance for spread, it is curable through treatment.
