Kerala govt offers Rs 2500 to those who inform marriage of minors

Kerala government has decided to offer 2,500 rupees for those who bring the marriage of a minor to the notice of the authorities. 'Informers' will not be disclosed. in an initiative led by the Women and Child Welfare Committee, the state government has given administrative sanction to allocate Rs 5 lakh for this purpose.

The decision was made by the Department of Social Justice. The fund will be allocated from this financial year. The order states that a special fund will be allocated for this in the coming years.

In India, the age of marriage is 18 for women and 21 for men. The Central Government has taken steps to raise the age of marriage for girls.The Union Ministry of Women and Child Welfare has appointed a special committee to study the issue.

In his last Independence Day speech, the Prime Minister also hinted at raising the age of marriage for girls.
