KT Jaleel, Minister for Higher Education, Welfare of Minorities, Waqf and Hajj of Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan directed University of Kerala to examine the complaints about Minister KT Jaleel's PhD and take necessary actions.

The complaint submitted by the 'Save University' campaign committee stated that there were errors in the minister's thesis. The complaint to the Governor highlights that there was no fundamental personal contribution to the thesis by the researcher and hence it must be re-evaluated with immediate effect.

Jaleel secured a PhD on Malabar riots from Kerala University in 2006. According to the complaint, Dr MK Ramachandran, then Vice-Chancellor of the University, awarded Jaleel the doctorate in his capacity in the absence of syndicate. The minister hasn't responded to the allegation.

Jaleel is Minister for Higher Education, Welfare of Minorities, Waqf and Hajj in the Left Democratic Front-led ministry in Kerala
