Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has opened a new war front with the state government through an unusual move of asking the Vice Chancellors of nine universities in the state to resign. On Sunday, the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the state universities, has instructed the VCs of Kerala University, MG University, Calicut University, Malayalam University, Kannur University, CUSAT, Kerala Fisheries University, Technical University and Sri Shankaracharya University to resign before 11.30 am Monday.

The Governor's unusual action comes after the Supreme Court's ruling, quashing the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of the APJ Abdulkalam Technical University (KTU). Pointing out that the appointment of the Vice Chancellor, Dr MS Rajshree, is not as per UGC rules, the apex court had quashed the appointment.
