Alappuzha: A couple got married, braving flooded roads to reach their wedding hall in a large aluminium cooking vessel amid heavy rains in Kerala, reports PTI. While the state has been reporting incidents of missing people, landslides and bodies being found, the wedding of the couple - both health workers - became a piece of pleasant news.

Limited number of family members joined the couple at the flooded hall at Thalavady, Alappuzha, adjacent to a nearby temple. The temple was scheduled to be the venue for marriage, but it got flooded, and the ceremony was shifted to the hall. The couple, Akash and Aishwarya, were seen travelling in a cooking vessel in television footage.

Reporters were covering floods in the district and had arrived at the hall when they heard about the ceremony. The couple told reporters after the wedding that they kept invitees to the minimum because of Covid-19. They said they didn't want to delay the event any further as it was an auspicious event and was scheduled on Monday.

Heavy rains during the past two days waterlogged the area including the temple where the marriage was scheduled.
