Kochi: In Kerala’s Ernakulam, a two-wheeler rider died after he got entangled in a rope tied across a road on Sunday. The rope was a part of the security installed as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Kerala visit.

The deceased was identified as Manoj Unni, a resident of Vadhuthala.

According to police who were stationed at the spot, they tried to stop Manoj by signalling with their hands, but the scooter kept moving forward. It hit the makeshift rope barricade, and he got entangled in it.

Though Manoj was rushed to hospital, he died while in treatment around midnight.

Modi is coming to Kerala this month as part of BJP’s poll campaigns for the Lok Sabha polls. BJP has scheduled campaign events for the PM in Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram. He expected to campaign for NDA candidates in Thrissur, Alathur and Palakkad before he attended a public meeting in Thiruvananthapuram Kattakkada. This is Modi’s second visit to Kerala following the declaration of elections. On March 19, he attended campaigns in Pathanamthitta and Palakkad.
