Thiruvananthapuram: Officials on Wednesday have announced the visit of President Ram Nath Kovind, who will be in Kerala for two days, starting Wednesday night.

He will be in Kerala to inaugurate the two day National Women Legislators' Conference in the Kerala Legislative Assembly complex in the state capital on Thursday Morning.

Women lawmakers from the Parliament and various state Assemblies will be attending the conference including Gujarat Assembly Speaker Nimaben Acharya, Lok Sabha MP Kanimozhi, former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and former Rajya Sabha member Brinda Karat, West Bengal minister Shashi Panja, MP Jaya Bachchan, Kerala High Court justice Anu Sivaraman, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and others.

According to Assembly sources, the two-day conference would discuss various topics of contemporary relevance centered on women's rights, gender equality, and ample women's representation in decision making bodies and so on.

The event is organised as part of Azad Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence.

All arrangements are in place for the smooth passage of the President's convoy from the airport to the official residence of Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, where Kovind will be stay, officials said.
