Kottumala Bapu Musliyar passes away

Kottumala Bapu Musliyar passes away

Kozhikode: Prominent Islamic scholar and Hajj Committee Chairman Kottumala T M Bapu Musliyar passed away at a private hospital here on Tuesday. He was 65.

Musliyar, who was the Secretary of Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama, had been undergoing treatment for heart ailment at a private hospital for some weeks. He breathed his last around 2.30 PM.

A native of Kalambadi in Malappuram district, Musliyar had also been serving as state Vice-President of Sunni Yuvajana Sangam. He was also the General Secretary of Samastha Kerala Islam Matha Vidyabhyasa Board and the Chairman of Suprabhaatham newspaper.

The body will be laid to rest at Kalambadi Juma Masjid Wednesday. Thousands of people are expected to join his burial. The body will bekep at the Kottumala Islamic Complex, Malappuram, at 9 am Wednesday for the public to pay last respects.

He is survived by wife, three sons and three daughters.
