People suffering from Long Covid experiences fatigue, shortness of breath, persistent cough, chest pain, digestive-tract related ailments, problems with memory and concentration among other symptoms.

Dr J Hareendran Nair, founder and MD, Pankajakasthri Herbals India Private Ltd., told The Indian Express that there are studies being conducted all over the world to understand, define, and diagnose the condition. He added that several Ayurvedic remedies are being used to restore the health of the body and mind post-Covid.

He noted that modern Ayurveda suggests that you maintain optimal immunity levels after contracting coronavirus to prevent reinfection. Dr Nair also recommended an additional period of rest after testing negative. He added that it is important that the patients remain well-hydrated and follow a diet that includes zinc, vitamin C, and B vitamins.

Patients should consume a diet of cooked foods that includes easy-to-digest items like leafy vegetables, soups, rice, wheat, ginger, garlic, pepper, turmeric, and tomatoes. Salads are not to be consumed during recovery, reported The Indian Express.

Respiratory organs are most affected due to the attack of coronavirus, Hence, monitor oxygen levels and use Ayurvedic formulations that incorporate black pepper, Indian long pepper, dry ginger, and cardamom, said Dr Nair.
