Media should not tarnish people's credibility: Kerala CM

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan strongly chastised the media at a conference organised by the Kerala Union of Working Journalists in the state capital on Saturday.
He gave journalists a brief lesson on how things should happen in the media, IANS reported.
Vijayan told not to tarnish an individual's personal credibility while doing media reports. He urged them to support and assist law enforcers in crimes. He said that media people nowadays work with wrong-doers by giving them unwanted attention. They don't even care to tender an apology even if the information they published turns out to be wrong. The corporates have taken the media in recent times, badly affecting the democracy, he alleged.
Pinarayi Vijayan became subject to severe flak from many quarters lately after the prime accused in the Kerala gold smuggling case, Swapna Suresh, levelled serious allegations against the CM. She has been gathering media attention lately with multiple revelations.
According to IANS, after her recent revelation sessions, Vijayan rarely addressed the media.
