Italy, France, Germany urge EU for ad hoc sanction on Hamas in solidarity with Israel

In a coordinated effort, Italy, France, and Germany are urging the European Union to implement ad hoc sanctions against Hamas and its supporters, as outlined in a joint letter to the EU's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized Western leaders for what he deemed inconsistent in their support. Meanwhile, France is contemplating the imposition of national sanctions on individuals involved in illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank. French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna highlighted concerns about the situation in the West Bank, citing numerous instances of violence perpetrated by extremist settlers.
