Kuwait City: The Ministry of Aviation, on Sunday, limited the number of incoming flight travellers, other than domestic labourers and transit travellers, at 1000 per day. The restriction, which started on January 24th, shall last till the 6th of February to ensure rampant COVID-19 testing facilities at the Kuwait International Airport. Director of Air Transport Department, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, informed that required instructions regarding the change were sent to all the airlines concerned.

Kuwait increased vigilance after contagious, mutant Covid strains were found in various countries. Recently, two Kuwaiti women travelling from Britain were diagnosed with a mutated variant of the virus.

Kuwait is employing all necessary measures to block the more contagious new variant of the virus from entering the country. Free PCR tests are available for travellers entering the country by air or road. It also ensures that the travellers follow quarantine strictly on entering the country. However, it is not clear how the new restriction will impact those who booked tickets in advance. Airlines have informed that flight schedules would be reworked shortly.
