'Limited' cases of new strain reported in UAE

Limited cases of new strain reported in UAE

The UAE has confirmed few cases of the new strain of Covid-19 amongst those who travelled from abroad, a government official said at a regular briefing on Tuesday.

Dr Omar Al Hammadi, the official spokesperson for the UAE government, reviewed the latest health conditions in the UAE during 7 days in conjunction with the ongoing investigations carried out by the health authorities in the briefing.

The UAE records 1,506 new coronavirus cases and 2 deaths, as of Tuesday. The total number of cases since the pandemic began had reached 204,369 and the death toll is 662.

It was also announced that 1,475 people had recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, the total number of recoveries is 181,400.

Al Hammadi added that the UAE government has increased the efficiency of preventive measures by using Artificial Intelligence tools to complete sterilizations and use remote consultation system for chronic disease patients.
