Oman's Supreme Committee has announced new rules amidst an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The Sultanate will suspend students' physical attendance in private and international schools, except for 12th graders. All schools will be subjected to e-learning, effective from Sunday (4 April) until further notice.

The state-rum Oman News Agency (ONA) reported that the move is to restrain the alarming increase in coronavirus cases among the administrative and teaching staff and students in private and international schools in the country. All official and private sports activities are also suspended by the Supreme Committee, with effect from Thursday (April 1).

Oman also directed institutions to downsize the number of employees in government offices or other public sector legal entities by 50 percent.

Oman is also currently on a partial lockdown from 8pm till 5am, until April 8. Earlier this week, the Committee has announced closing of all commercial activities and a ban on vehicles or going out during the night curfew.
