Tehran: Iran warned Israel on Sunday against retaliation to the unprecedented overnight attack Tehran unleashed at them, justifying it as a response to the deadly attack Israel committed at Iran's embassy in Damascus.

Iran's mission to the United Nations wrote on X, "The matter can be deemed concluded."

According to an Agence France-Presse report, the post also warned, "However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran's response will be considerably more severe."

On Sunday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi warned Israel and its allies against any retaliation after Tehran launched rockets, missiles and drones, initiating an attack on Israel. Raisi said in a statement that if the Zionist regime or its supporters demonstrate reckless behaviour, they will receive a decisive and much stronger response.

Another statement said that Tehran's foreign ministry summoned the French, British, and German ambassadors after "the irresponsible position of certain officials of these countries regarding Iran's response." This was after many countries condemned Israel's attack.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps said late on Saturday that they initiated "dozens of drones and missiles" towards military sites on Israeli territory. The military action was in response to Israel's aggression against Iran's diplomatic premises in Damascus- earlier on April, the Iranian mission to the UN said and called the action a "legitimate defence", AFP reports.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army informed that it had intercepted 99 per cent of the drones and missiles, with the help of the US and other allies. It declared Iran's attack "foiled." But Iranian Army Chief of Staff Mohammed Bagheri said that the attack has achieved all its objectives.
