Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal, the suspended BJP leaders who insulted Prophet Muhammed

Doha: Qatar has expressed its strong displeasure of BJP leaders' blasphemous remarks about Prophet Muhammed. Qatar Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi summoned the Indian Ambassador in Qatar, Dr Deepak Mittal, to express protest, while Indian Vice President Venkaiah Naidu is on an official visit to the kingdom.

Following Qatar, Kuwait also condemned the comments.

He expressed strong dissatisfaction and condemned the remarks insulting the prophet made by the spokespersons. Qatar demanded a public apology for the comments made by BJP's Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal, who got suspended from the party on Sunday.

However, Mittal had informed the Qatar minister that the views were not India's but the personal views of those who made it.

Meanwhile, the news of blasphemeous comments spillled into Arab countries inviting widespread flak, The Saisat Daily reported. They criticised the Narendra Modi government for not taking required steps against the BJP leaders. many Arabians denouced Indian products and 'Boycott India' tweets started trending on the internet.

BJP, on Sunday, surfaced with a press release stating that the party strongly denounces the statements. "The BJP denounces insult over any religious personalities of any religion," the statement read.
