Doha: The Ras Laffan Community Outreach Program (Ras Laffan COP) in association with the Ministry of Interior launched the third edition of the "Bedar" initiative at the Barwa Workers Recreation Complex in Al Khor, Qatar. The event, which aimed to promote worker well-being and safety, featured a diverse range of engaging activities and informative sessions.

The launch ceremony featured enthusiastic participation from workers representing 13 companies, who engaged in spirited sports competitions such as football, basketball, volleyball, tug of war and pushups. The workers were treated to informative presentations by six departments of the Ministry of Interior, covering topics including cybercrime prevention, crime investigation methods, fire prevention, Qatari customs and traditions, drug prevention laws and human rights services.

Highlighting the significance of the "Bedar3" initiative, Sheikha Al Anoud Al-Thani, Head of the Media Studies Section at the Ministry of Interior's Public Relations Department, emphasized its alignment with the Ministry's strategic objectives of fostering security awareness and healthy community communication. She stressed the importance of empowering workers with safety knowledge, particularly in their workplaces, to mitigate risks and ensure their well-being.

Sheikha Dana Al-Thani, senior official of Ras Laffan COP, highlighted the program's commitment to promoting sports and community activities in line with Qatar's Vision 2030, which prioritizes human development through sports.

Approximately 1,300 workers from 12 companies participated in the sports competitions, with top-performing companies such as Gulfar Al Misnad, Black Cat, Seashore Group, EMCO Qatar and Al Jaber Engineering receiving honours during the concluding session of the event.

The "Bedar" initiative, rooted in its mission to empower workers with essential skills and knowledge, seeks to reinforce social values, enhance safety awareness and promote community development. Through training programs and workshops, the initiative aims to equip workers with the tools necessary to navigate emergencies, protect their well-being, and contribute to the overall progress of the community.
