Saudi Western regional winners of the ‘India@75 Freedom Quiz’ competition organized by Gulf Madhyamam with the Deputy Consul General of India Y.K Sabir and Gulf Madhyamam officials.

Riyadh: Gulf Madhyamam on Friday distributed prizes to the western regional winners of the 'India@75 Freedom Quiz', a mega virtual competition for students held in Saudi Arabia, as part of the 75th-anniversary celebrations of Indian independence and the India-Saudi diplomatic relationship. Tens of thousands of children from across the country had taken part in the competition, which was held on September 24.

Indian Deputy Consul General and Consul of Hajj Y. K Sabir distributed the gifts. Gautam Krishna from Al Manar International School, Yambu received the prize for finishing third at the Saudi level in the junior category, while Akshaya Anoop from International Indian School, Jeddah and Sweedal Alvina Correa from Al Falah International DPS School, Jeddah excelled from the western region in the same category.

Abdus Sami Sheikh and Arafat Mohammed Asif from International Indian School, Jeddah were the winners in the senior category. Nivan Sunil from New Alwurood International School, Jeddah and Rizana Usman from International Indian School, Jeddah received the award in the same category.

The first prize was worth Saudi Riyal 4,000 and the second and third prizes worth Saudi Riyal 2,500 and 2,000 respectively.

PM Fadl welcomed the gathering and Gulf Madhyamam Jeddah Bureau Head Sadikali Tuvvur gave the vote of thanks. Ruhaim Moosa performed the recitation. Irfan was the presenter. Gulf Madhyamam and MediaOne Coordination Committee Convenor A. Najmuddin, members CH Basheer and Ashraf Pappinisseri, representatives Umar Farooq, Ajmal Abdul Ghafoor and Marketing Executive PK Siraj attended the program.

The Grand Finale of the quiz was held in Riyadh under the aegis of the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia and was conducted at a venue arranged in strict compliance with Covid protocol.

The quiz, which was attended by thousands of students, ended in three rounds. In the semi-finals, 300 children competed in both categories. Six students from each of the winning junior and senior categories competed in the grand finale.

The quiz master of the event was well-known Indian television presenter, quiz master and seven-time winner of Limca Book of Records Giri 'Pick Brain' Bala Subrahmaniam.

The Lulu Group was the main sponsor of the event, which was held under the auspices of the Embassy of India.
