Covid-19: Saudi records 572 new cases, 1 death

Jeddah: The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia informed that the Kingdom reported 572 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday. This has pushed the total positive count to 8,03,158, Arab News reported.

The ministry also said that one death was reported due to the virus, bringing the cumulative death count n the Kingdom to 9,230.

Out of the new cases reported, 172 were from Riyadh, 93 in Jeddah, 56 in Dammam, 39 in Makkah, 29 in Hofuf and 25 in Madinah. Some more cities reported cases but below 20 in numbers.

According to the ministry, 401 patients recovered from the illness and cumulative recovery reached 7,87,599. The active case pool in the country is 6,329 COVID-19, while 15,320 PCR tests were conducted in 24 hours as of Saturday. The total tests performed nearly touched 44 million.

Further, 151 patients remain in critical condition, the ministry said.

Saudi had jabbed nearly 68 million Covid-19 vaccine doses since the vaccination drive started. More than 25 million citizens have gotten fully vaccinated through 587 vaccine centres across the country. The health ministry asked people who had not received vaccination to register for a series of injections through the Sehhaty app.
