Jeddah: The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia has announced that local pilgrims, aged 12 to 18 and fully vaccinated, could obtain Umrah permits, reports Arab News. The announcement came after the inauguration of the 2021 Umrah season on Tuesday.

The administration has issued more than 13,000 permits for the mentioned age group, which allows them to perform Umrah and visit the Prophet's Mosque.

The Umrah permits are issued only through the Eatmarna and Tawakkalna applications, said Abdul-Fattah bin Suleiman Mashat, Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah. Also, an integrated system of services and preventive measures ensuring safety and health for those wishing to perform Umrah, he added.

He further said that the ministry has worked with other authorities before the current Umrah season to establish mechanisms and a safe environment for pilgrims. He also highlighted the need of adhering to health procedures set by the ministry to ensure the safety of pilgrims and those serving them from spreading the Covid virus.
