Riyadh: The Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was presented with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) highest civilian award, the Order of Zayed, Arab News reported.

Salman was honoured by his UAE counterpart Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on behalf of UAE president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.

The award is granted to kings, presidents and other heads of state to recognise strong historical ties and bilateral relations.

Later at Qasr Al-Watan, UAE's presidential palace, the duo discussed brotherly relations, bilateral cooperation paths and development opportunities in various fields. Regional and international issues of common interest, the importance of joint Gulf and Arab action and the need to work together to ensure regional stability for development were also discussed.

Prince Salman congratulated the UAE leaders on the recent 50th anniversary of the unification of the seven emirates under a single flag. He also wished the UAE's people prosperity, progress and development.

Salman was on the second leg of his official tour of Gulf Cooperation Council nations when he landed in UAE on Tuesday. He had visited Muscat and Oman and will visit Manama, Doha and Kuwait.

Earlier chambers of commerce and industry of Saudi, UAE and Abu Dhabi hosted a Saudi-Emirati Business Forum in Abu Dhabi ahead of Prince Salman's visit.

The forum discussed ways to develop trade cooperation and new investment opportunities, particularly in development sectors. Discussions were also done in pursuing innovative solutions for the optimal utilisation of available resources.
