Riyadh: Saudi Arabia announces the restriction of human resources jobs to Saudi nationals as part of its efforts to boost employment opportunities for Saudi citizens.

The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources confirms the restriction in response to a citizen's query and announces the implementation of the second phase of the decree localizing consultancy services professions by 40 percent.

The Saudisation policy progresses through phases, with the first phase mandating 35 percent Saudi employment in certain professions. The second phase further increases this requirement to 40 percent, reflecting the kingdom's commitment to prioritizing Saudi nationals in the workforce.

Saudi Arabia launches various initiatives to employ nationals across different sectors, aligning with its labour policy known as "Saudisation". These initiatives aim to replace foreign workers and increase employment opportunities for Saudis in fields such as education, telecommunications and real estate.

The kingdom announces plans to partially localise engineering professions in the private sector, marking a significant step towards increasing Saudi participation in key industries.

Sales, purchases and project management jobs are also targeted for localisation, with the Ministry of Human Resources outlining specific professions to be Saudised. This move aims to enhance Saudi engagement in crucial sectors and reduce dependence on foreign labour.

Saudi Arabia unveils a plan to localise the dental profession, setting an initial target of 35 percent Saudisation. The Ministry of Health pledges to monitor the implementation of this decision to ensure increased Saudi participation in the labour market.

The Ministry of Human Resources offers incentives and support programmes to assist private sector institutions in employing Saudis, including assistance in recruitment, training, and access to employment support programmes. These initiatives aim to facilitate the hiring of qualified Saudi nationals.

In December 2022, a decree localising employment for postal services and parcel transport comes into effect, further advancing the kingdom's efforts to prioritize Saudi nationals in various sectors.
