A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi and Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways.

Abu Dhabi: Etihad Airways and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) have jointly announced the introduction of Abu Dhabi Stopover. This announcement occurred during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024, following signing a Memorandum of Understanding between Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi and Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways.

Abu Dhabi Stopover, an exclusive offer by Etihad Airways, allows travellers with layovers in Abu Dhabi to transform their complimentary hotel stay into an extraordinary vacation. The capital of the UAE offers an enticing and convenient stopover experience, boasting world-class hotels, breathtaking beaches, a vibrant dining scene and exhilarating entertainment options.

When booking flights with Etihad, passengers now have the opportunity to include a stopover and choose a complimentary hotel as part of the online booking process. Guests can enjoy a free stay for one or two nights at a selection of premier hotels throughout the city. These stopover packages are exclusively available when booking directly through etihad.com.

Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism, DCT Abu Dhabi, said, “Our partners are an integral part of our mission to share the best of Abu Dhabi with global travellers. Our Stopover programme with Etihad offers an exciting introduction to the emirate for curious visitors. This innovative initiative provides a snapshot of the diverse experiences available — from entertainment and culture to leisure and beyond — inspiring travellers to return and immerse themselves in the complete Abu Dhabi experience.”

Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad, stated that they aim to attract over 100,000 visitors to Abu Dhabi through the Stopover program in the upcoming year. Neves expressed confidence that once these visitors experience the offerings of the capital, they will be enticed to return for more. He further mentioned the pleasure of collaborating closely with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi to showcase the emirate’s attractions to a global audience.
