Dubai: The Dubai Police announced the precise locations of the traditional Ramadan cannons, ensuring a widespread and impactful presence throughout the Emirate. The announcement took place during a press conference held at Expo City Dubai, attended by H.E. Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi and Brigadier Musabah Al Ghafli.

During the conference, Maj. Gen. Ghaithi highlighted the formation of dedicated teams, working in collaboration with strategic allies, to oversee the deployment of Ramadan cannons. These 'Stationary Cannons' will be positioned strategically across seven key areas, including Expo Dubai, Damac Hills, Vida Creek Harbour, Burj Khalifa, Mirdif Downtown, Festival City and Hatta Guest House.

The main cannon, once again positioned at Expo Dubai, symbolizes the enduring and robust partnership between the Dubai Police and Expo Dubai since hosting Expo 2020.

Maj. Gen. Ghaithi elaborated on the mobile cannon's itinerary, which will spend two days at each of the 13 designated locations. The journey will commence at Al Satwa Big Mosque and include stops at prominent locations such as Burj Khalifa, Nad Al Sheba, Al Ghaf Walk, Umm Suqeim Majlis, Zabeel Park, Dubai Creek Harbour, Hatta, Al Khawaneej Majlis, Festival City and conclude at Dubai International Financial Centre.

Maj. Gen. Ali Ghanem emphasized the importance of iftar cannon events during Ramadan, highlighting their crucial role in reviving Arab and Islamic customs, traditions and culture within the vibrant society of the United Arab Emirates. These events will be broadcast live on Dubai TV during Iftar, contributing to nurturing the spiritual atmosphere, promoting social values, fostering unity and strengthening familial bonds.

Further, Amna Abulhoul, Executive Creative Director, Entertainment and Events, shared insights into the second edition of 'Hai Ramadan,' featuring Emirati traditions and heritage. Lt. Col. Abdullah Tarish Al Amimi confirmed the completion of preparations for the official moon sighting announcement, utilizing Suhoor cannons and vintage French cannons with historical significance.

Explaining the cannon firing rituals during Ramadan, Lt. Col. Al Amimi detailed that the cannon, weighing 25 pounds, produces a powerful sound reaching up to 170 decibels, with an impressive range extending up to 10 kilometres.
