UAE's 100 Million Meals campaign: Lulu Group chairman Yusufali donates Dhs 1 Mn

The chairman and managing director of the international conglomerate LuLu Group International MA Yusufali has donated Dhs 1 million to the '100 Million Meals' campaign launched by the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The move, initiated by Lulu Group, is expected to deliver food to a million people.

The campaign, organised by Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) in collaboration with the UN World Food Programme and several other organisations, aims at delivering 100 million food packages to deprived communities across 20 countries in MENA and Asia regions during the month of Ramadan.

Praising the region's largest food drive, Yusufali said the project is one of the most unique humanitarian initiatives. He added that his organisation is always committed to fulfilling its social responsibility to the community and vowed all his support to provide relief to the affected people through the project.

The Indian UAE-based businessman had donated Dh1 Mn to provide 125,000 meals for the last year's '10 million meals' campaign. In addition, he also donated Dhs 3 Mn for the construction of the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre under the auspices of the MBRGI.

According to the Forbes list 2021, Yusufali contributed $6.8 Mn to fight the Covid-19 pandemic and built and donated a treatment centre with 1,400 beds in Kerala.
