Jammu: A woman was killed and four other civilians injured Friday as Pakistani troops again broke the ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) and resorted to unprovoked firing at Indian positions in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, police said.

A senior police officer told IANS that a woman was killed and four other civilians, all men, were wounded in Pakistan firingi in Saujian area of Poonch district Friday afternoon.

"The injured civilians have been shifted to Poonch district hospital for treatment," the officer said.

Defence spokesman, Col. Manish Mehta had earlier told IANS that Pakistani troops "resorted to unprovoked firing at our positions in Saujian area at 2 p.m. using small arms and automatic weapons".

"Our troops retaliated with same calibre weapons. Firing exchanges continued in the area up to 3.50 p.m." he added.

Pakistan had violated ceasefire on the same area of the LoC Thursday resulting in injuries to six civilians and damage to six houses.

After a lull of nearly one month, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire Oct 1 in Poonch district.
