New Delhi: The Central government is geared up for relief work and supplies to the flood-ravaged parts of Jammu and Kashmir are ready to be sent, Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh said here Tuesday.

"It is time that all of us focus our energies to help the people affected by the floods in Jammu and Kashmir," Singh told the media at the National Media Centre.

"The central government is totally geared up with all supplies in place and medical supplies in standing," he said.

The minister said the communication links that have snapped in Srinagar are likely to be restored in a day or two.

"The BSNL (telecom service provider) has become active. Expert personnel are being shifted to Srinagar. The communication links would hopefully be restored in a day or two," he said.

Asked if the India Meteorological Department failed in forecasting the volume of rain in the state, the minister said the weather department was not at fault.

"Our forecasting mechanism has not faulted... I am proud to say that the weather forecast made by earth sciences department from June till now has been almost 100 percent accurate," he said.
