New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's multiple meetings with farmer leaders have been "deferred" till April 18, a party leader said on Friday.
The meetings were scheduled for Friday.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the meetings were rescheduled because "we wanted to give enough travel time" to farmers coming from far and wide for the Kisaan Mazdoor rally at Ramlila Ground here on Sunday.
Rahul Gandhi, who returned from a 56-day sabbatical on Thursday, is now scheduled to meet multiple delegations of farmers at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
"About half a dozen groups of farmers from across India will meet Rahul Gandhi tomorrow (Saturday) at his residence," Surjewala told IANS.
On his first day at work after his return from a 'leave of absence' since February 23, the Congress vice-president will take stock of things and set his office back in order, Surjewala said.
