AIIMS student found hanging in hostel room

New Delhi: A female medical student was found hanging in her room in a girls hostel at AIIMS on Sunday morning, officials said.
"The body of a female student, Khushboo Chaudhary, who had recently joined the 1st year MBBS course, was found hanging in her room in the girls hostel on the campus," All India Institute of Medical Sciences spokesman Dr Amit Gupta said in a press release here.
AIIMS authorities said preliminary inquiry had ruled out ragging.
Other hostel inmates informed authorities, who called the police.
"Police are investigating and have seized her mobile phone to look for clues. However, no suicide note was found in her room," Gupta said.
A resident of Bikaner in Rajasthan, the medico had joined the institute in July.
"She was a cheerful girl and spent Saturday evening with most of her friends, shopping and going out," Gupta said.
