Chennai: Netizens took to cyberspace to condole the passing away of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, describing her as an "Iron lady" and a "volcano erupting with talent".

#RIPAmma, #RIPJayalalithaa, #IRONLADY were some of the hashtags used by the general public who joined prominent personalities to record their grief on social media.

"Hard 2 believe, Amma is no more.. the real leader, u nvr can b forgotten, always in our thoughts #IronLady #Ripamma Ripjayalalithaa, said a tweet.

A Facebook post read: "You were like this volcano erupting with talent, leadership, hot iron spirit etc. in a male dominated arena .. The legacy you left behind in the form of rock solid lava will be a source of inspiration for millions.."

"A great leader & a true fighter. An inspiration to all", "She'll still remain in the hearts of millions all around the country, especially Tamil Nadu, for her motherly care. A woman of strong will and courage" were some of the tweets.

There were also some good Samaritans who offered help for getting medicines for the needy with the city witnessing a near bandh-like situation with all shops closed.
