Pathankot attack: Abducted SP to face polygraph test

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will on Monday conduct a polygraph test on Salwinder Singh, the superintendent of police in Punjab's Gurdaspur district, an official said.

The test would be done in connection with his suspected role in helping the terrorists who attacked an Indian Air Force base in Punjab's Pathankot town.

"Singh will face a series of questions in his polygraph test to be conducted today (Monday)," an NIA official, on condition of anonymity, told IANS.

The official said the NIA wanted to conduct the polygraph test to ascertain his statements made earlier during his questioning by the agency team over his abduction by the terrorists who attacked the Pathankot air base.

Sources said Singh, who has been brought to the NIA headquarters here, was on the agency's radar since the day it took over the Pathankot terror attack probe from Punjab Police.

Singh claimed that he, along with his friend Rajesh Verma and cook Madan Gopal, was abducted by four or five heavily-armed terrorists near the state's Kolia village.

Six terrorists and seven security personnel were killed in the attack on the Pathankot air base, according to officials.
