No sharp dip in DU cut-off, some popular courses still available

New Delhi: The Delhi University (DU) on Monday night released the second cut-off for admissions to undergraduate courses with a marginal dip for popular courses in prominent colleges.

While the seats for some courses in colleges across DU are full, there are still places in many popular courses like B. Com (Honours) and Economics available.

Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), one of the most sought after colleges of DU, reduced the cut-off for B. Com (H) and Economics by 0.5 percent each.

The cut-off for B. Com (H) was 97.5 percent while for Economics it was 97.75 percent at SRCC which only offers these two courses.

Another prestigious college in North Campus - Ramjas College, which came out with highest cut-off this year for B. Com (H) at 99.25, reduced it by 1.5 percent to 97.75 percent.

Asked by IANS as to how many seats were filled for the course, Principal, Rajendra Prasad said: "The official data is not available yet. But there are still some seats left in the course."

The cut-off for B. Com (Pass) was also reduced by 1.5 percent from 98.75 percent to 97.25 percent.

At Kiori Mal College in North Campus, the cut-off for B. A. (Pass) was reduced by 1.5 percent to 95 percent while for English, it was reduced by just 0.5 percent to 96 percent. The seats for History and Physical Science have been filled.

Among the girls colleges, the cut-off at Miranda House for all the major courses were reduced by 0.5 percent.

While for Economics, the cut-off is now 97.25 percent, while for English and Political Science, it dipped to 97 percent and 97.5 percent respectively.

Another girls college in North Campus, the Daulat Ram College, which has closed admissions for Biochemistry and Zoology reduced the cut-off for Economics from 97 percent to 96.25 percent and for English from 96.25 percent to 95.5 percent.

Meanwhile in South Campus, no sharp dip in cut-off list was seen. College of Vocational Studies (CVS) decreased the cut-off for B. Com (H) from 98 percent to 96.5 percent and for Economics by one percent to 96 percent.

Lady Sri Ram college for girls in South Campus also reduced the cut-off for Economics to 97.5 percent and for English to 97.5 percent.

Meanwhile the university also extended the deadline to submit the fees for students who took admissions under the first cut-off till 10 p.m. on July 5.

The students faced inconvenience in paying the fee online as the website of the university was running slow and many students could not pay their fees.
