Srinagar: Indian security forces on Friday launched cordon and seacrch operations in north Kashmir's Baramulla following information about movement of militants, four days after raids at suspected hideouts of ultras in the district led to arrest of 44 people

"Joint teams of army and police were conducting search operations at several places in Baramulla in view of inputs about movement of militants there during the intervening night," an official said

He said so far the security forces have not got any success but the operations were continuing

On October 17, over 700 houses were searched in a span of 12 hours in an extensive search operation in old town in Baramulla during which 44 persons allegedly involved with terror related activities were apprehended

Possibly for the first time in Kashmir, security forces had recovered Chinese flags along with other incriminating material like petrol bombs, Pakistani flags, Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) letter head pads, unauthorised mobile phones and seditious anti-national publicity material.
