New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to spend Diwali this year with personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, which guards India-China border, official sources said.

The Prime Minister had celebrated his first Diwali after coming in power in 2014 with soldiers posted in Siachen, and in 2015, he was at the India-Pakistan border in Punjab.

According to sources, Modi will celebrate the festival with ITBP troopers in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, at a remote post in a village called Mana at the height of around 10,000 feet.

He is also expected to visit the temple in Badrinath nearby.

Prime Minister Modi started a campaign #Sandesh2Soldiers to invite people to send letters and messages to the armed forces on October 23.A

According to officials over 10 lakh messages have come in response including several prominent figures including cricketer Virat Kohli, businessman Anand Mahindra and actor Aamir Khan sending their Diwali wishes to soldiers.
