Ram temple: Constitution does not allow an ordinance, says Paswan
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said on Tuesday that the government and Prime Minister are bound by the Constitution which doesn’t permit an ordinance to build Ram Temple.
In interview to The Hindu, Paswan candidly said that the government doesn’t belong to either Hindus or Muslims and Prime minister, for that matter, does not belong to NDA or the UPA alone.
For Prime Minister Parliament is the temple, and the Constitution his religion.
When asked whether the frenzy around Ram Mandir makes him uncomfortable, Ram Vilas Paswan said nothing would happen in this matter. His position has always been that decision of Supreme Court would be the final word and should be acceptable to all.
The Constitution does not allow an ordinance, he said.
