Youth Congress member Aljo Joseph’s appearance in court on behalf of Christian Michel made Saffron ideologue S Gurumurthy link the Gandhi family to the copter scam.

“Implicit confession by Sonia family of involvement in AgustaWestland. Lawyer for middleman Christian Michel is national legal in-charge of Indian Youth Congress. Party office-bearer to argue for the middleman suspected to have received money for the ‘family’,” he tweeted.

Special judge Arvind Kumar granted him five minutes to discuss with his client inside the courtroom.

Later, Aljo Joseph responded to queries from media about his political affiliation saying, “I am an advocate and appeared in my personal capacity. If somebody asks me to appear on his behalf, I have discharged only my duty as a lawyer. My relationship with Congress and my profession are separate.”

Meanwhile, Congress considers Michel’s extradition as BJP’s move to counter the Congress’ attack on Rafale deal, triggering a war of words between them.
