Bangaluru: Students appearing for SSLC exam in Karnataka will not be allowed to wear wristwatches during exams. The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board(KSEEB) has decided to initiate the ban following reports of malpractice.

A report in The Hindu said the reason behind the ban is the fear that as watches come Bluetooth-enabled, they can help find answers via linking to smartphones.

Officials of the board have found specifically designed “cheat watches”, with storage units for text and images, available online for ₹7,000. Student might be lured into buying them.

Also, in the more old-fashioned cheating, wristwatches enable students to conceal chits under the watch.

However, to help students keep track of time while writing exams, there will be wall clocks in each classroom.

Students demand authorities to allow them to wear regular watches, banning the digital ones.
