Mumbai: Animal activists and public came out in droves on the streets of Maharashtra’s Bandra’s Carter Road Sunday protesting the illegal killing of a runaway tigress Avani.
The protesters moved along carrying banners reading “Shame on Govt for Killing Avni”. They vowed to press authorities to stop such indiscriminate killings of wild animals.
“Presence of tigers and their cubs means that no developmental activities like having factories can take place inside forests. Only if we the people show up in large numbers can a difference be made to protect our forests and wildlife” The Times of India quoted an activist as saying.
