New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) finally closed the missing case of JNU student Najeeb Ahmad on Monday, having failed to find any clue about his whereabouts.

Earlier the Delhi high court had nodded in favour of closing the case.

CBI had been probing the case since May 16 last year.

Seeking permission of Delhi court to close the case, the agency said that they could not find any trace of offence.

Ahmad had gone missing from the Mahi-Mandvi hostel of the Jawaharlal Nehru University ( JNU) on October 15, 2016.

The case became controversial as it emerged that he had a scuffle with some students allegedly affiliated to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad( ABVP) the previous night.

Delhi Police too had probed the case but to no avail.
