Raipur: The judicial commission report on the June 2012 Sarkeguda killings says that there is no evidence to show that 17 people killed were Maoists.

The report also found ‘Manipulation in probe” following the killings.

On the night of June 28, 2012 a joint team of CRPF and Chhattisgarh police gunned down 17 people here.

The locals however said that those gunned down were not Maoists; they were innocent villagers assembled for village meeting.

Following this gruesome incident, rights activists started clamouring that there were six minors among those killed.

Just as the pressure mounted, the BJP government ordered a judicial probe headed by Justice VK Agrawal, a retired judge of MP high court.
