Moscow : Putin's invasion of Ukraine has resulted in the first economic isolation of the Russian economy in decades, with many of its banks cut off from the global financial system and traders unwilling to deal with its oil imports.

This escalating crisis was largely ignored by OPEC+, which is led by Saudi Arabia and Russia. Moscow and Riyadh may become more tense with each other should the cartel increase production to ease crude prices.

In a phone call with Putin, the Russian president stressed the inacceptable nature of politicizing global energy supply issues. "We are interested in continuing to develop our strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia." was the key message of the discussion.
