Thiruvananthapuram: A massive security cover incorporating the services of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, besides state and central forces has been planned for the smooth conduct of the 35th edition of the National Games to be held in the state next year.
A decision in this regard was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala today.
The Security and Fire Safety Committee of the Games decided to mobilise an integrated contingent of security by incorporating the services of the State Police, CISF, BSF and the Coastguard, an official press release said here.
"Their services will be utilised to ensure the safety and security of over 12,000 athletes, coaches and other sports personnel, in addition to an estimated 7,000 volunteers and lakhs of spectators across 31 venues in 7 districts," it said.
"The services of forces from other states will also be sought for the Games, to overcome the linguistic difficulties," it said.
