Krakow: Colombian cyclist Alvaro Hodeg, from the Quick-Step team, won the third stage of the Tour of Poland, held between here and Zabrze, after covering the 140 kilometres of the route in a time of three hours nine minutes and 59 seconds.

Hodeg is two seconds ahead of the previous leader, Pascal Ackermann, after the German rider failed to get a bonus in the third sprint finish on Monday, which made him fall to second place in the overall standings, reports EFE news agency.

Behind Hodeg, England's Daniel McLay and Germany's Andre Greipel crossed the finish line, with Greipel rising to third place in the overall standings, 15 seconds behind the leader.

The fourth stage of the Tour of Poland will take place on Tuesday on a 179 km route between the cities of Jaworzno and Szczyrk.
