Sheffield: Sheffield United is promoted to top flight of English football divisions after competitor for the second promotions slot Leeds United drew with Aston Villa (1-1).
Sheffield will play in Premier League next season after an absence of 12 years. Norwich, the leaders of EFL Championship, had already secured the promotion last week.
Sheffield’s 2-0 win over relegated Ipswich Town on Saturday had put them on pole position for the promotion.
Master tactician Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United needed a victory over Aston Villa to preventing Sheffield United to secure the promotion, but were held to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road.
Leading Norwich scored 91 points, and Sheffield United - 88. Leeds United has 83 points.
