Australian cricketer Jess Jonassen gets married to long-time partner Sarah Wearn
text_fieldsHawaii: Australia women's team all-rounder Jess Jonassen on Friday revealed that she has tied the knot to her long-time partner Sarah Wearn.
She took to Twitter to share photographs from the waterside wedding ceremony in Hawaii. She wrote, "SURPRISE!! 3rd time lucky - finally married my best friend. April 6th will always have a special place in my heart."
Sarah also posted the photographs on Instagram and shared the same caption. Both brides were wearing outfits of a combination of white and beige.
The couple had originally planned to get married in May 2020 but had to postpone twice due to the pandemic. They bought a home together in September 2018 and became parents to two French bulldog puppies - Alfie and Freddie.
She was in a relationship with Sarah for over 10 years and both were vocal about their sexuality. Same-sex marriages were legalised in Australia in December 2017. Following the enactment of the law, Jess proposed in February 2018. She announced the news on Twitter and wrote, "Could not ask for a better person to spend the rest of my life with."
30-year-old Jonassen is a left-arm spinner and handy batter. She has been in the Australian team for over a decade and was part of Australia's 2020 T20 World Cup and 2022 ODI World Cup-winning teams.
