IPL 2022: KKR clamps MI to their 9th loss for 52 runs

Navi Mumbai: The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) kept their slim hopes of entering playoffs alive by beating mighty Mumbai Indians (MI), who but having a disaster season this year, for 52 runs at the DY Patil Stadium on Monday.
Though Jasprit Bumrah delivered a heavenly spell of 5/10, with 18 dot balls, restricting KKR to 165/9 in 20 overs, MI crashed at 113 all out in 17.3 overs in match 56 of IPL 2022.
MI's batting lineup, except Ishan Kishan (51 of 43), couldn't find a foot and get big runs, while KKR's Pat Cummins and Andre Russel shared five wickets to clamp down MI to their 9th loss in the season, a first in the celebrated franchise's history.
MI's Rohit Sharma, who was struggling throughout the season, left the pitch in the first over itself after KKR won a review. In Tim Southee's delivery, he gave catch to keeper Sheldon Jackson.
While many followed skipper Rohit back to the pavilion, Ishan Kishan anchored the team to pitch, but in vain. He completed 50 in 41 balls but got out in the next over of Cummins.
Earlier, KKR had a great start with a 50 plus partnership inside the powerplay. Venaktesh Iyer (43 of 24) and Nitisha Rana (43 of 26).
Daniel Sams took Venkatesh, and Bumhrah took Nitish Rana's wickets. Bumrah boomed again, taking Russel also out.
Later Bumrah came in the 18th over and took out Sheldon Jackson, Pat Cummins and Sunil Narine.
