New Delhi: Wicket of Rajasthan Royals (RR) star batter and skipper Sanju Samson, who was in the match against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday night, was caught in a furious debate among fans. In the 16th over of the second innings of the game, when Rajasthan was being rescued and being driven towards their target by Sanju, the mallu star attempted to hit Mukesh Kumar for six but ended up in the hands of Shai Hope, who caught the ball at the boundary.

The on-Field Umpire had referred it to the Third Umpire, and the latter confirmed that it was a fair catch. However, fans alleged that Hope stepped on the boundary line, and the catch wasn't fair. Even visuals from the match showed Sanju reasoning with the On-Field Umpires, but in vain. Social Media collectively slammed the Umpiring in the match.

Fans pointed out that the Umpire didn't bother to check other angles but arrived at a quick decision. They argued that when Wide appeals are checked for longer, the decision being made on the catch within a minute is outrageous.

Anyway, Rajasthan lost the match by 20 runs, despite a rescue effort by Sanju, scoring 86 runs off 46 balls.

The Delhi Capitals (DC) snatched the game from mighty Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 56 of Indian Premier League 2024 on Tuesday night, leading the latter to their third defeat after playing 11. Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel slammed the fifties, and Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar bowled superb spells to power DC to victory. McGurk became a storm, scoring 50 runs in 19 balls, though he got out in the next ball.
